You aren't certain if you actually said the word, "Excite," but the
sphere immediately knows your choice and the voice intones, "Thank you.
Enjoy your exciting in flight entertainment experience."
The milky white of the crystal brightens until you find yourself staring into the bluest sky you can imagine. The day is hot and you become aware of the fact that you strapped into a seat on a great wooden roller coaster. You hear the creaking of gears and you begin to move forward, up, up, up, until you are tilted back almost horizontally, staring at that vast blue sky, and yet you continue to climb. The sky fades from blue to black and you realize you have somehow passed the earth's atmosphere and are now floating in space inside a roller coaster car. The moon is huge, hovering above you, and you almost imagine you can touch it but then with a jerk, you reach the top of the track and find yourself tilting downward once more. You can see the earth below you and know that if you start down now you will be falling for hours.
You are wondering if there is a way to change your selection when the breaks let out and the car descends rapidly towards the earth. The wind rushes about you and you are blinded, unable to see, hear, or feel anything besides the air screaming past your ears. You have never moved this fast before. The earth grows closer. You can see the track before you but you can't imagine how your car will hold onto it at this ludicrous speed. . . You start to scream, but before you can the images fade back to white and you look up and find Solsticia standing above you.
"We are at our destination. I thought you might appreciate seeing the view," she explains.
You turn your attention to the window but can see nothing but a blanket of fog, but then you break above the cloud cover and see a miraculous sight on the horizon, a city of alabaster and pearl with spires and stair cases floating upon a particularly dense sheet of cloud. You rub your eyes. You knew that this was a castle in the clouds but hearing about it and seeing it are two different beasts and you gape in awe at this impossible structure.
In no time at all the zeppelin bumps up against a dock like protrusion on the city and the sky-sailors hurry to bind ropes and hold it fast.
You disembark with the crowd and find yourself facing the broad, shining streets of a fairy city.
