"I am very sorry," you say, picking yourself up off the ground and holding out the coin to the menacing little creature. "I did not realize this was such an important coin. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"
The creature inhales slowly, his eyes losing their fire.
"Well, you are polite, anyway, and I am in the mood to be forgiving," he says. "Still, a lost wish costs me time and energy . . . I tell you what, you complete a task for my friend and we will consider it even. If you take the path through the woods and turn left at the river, you'll come to a cave. That is my friend's residence. Tell him Bartholomew sent you and he'll tell you what he needs from there. How about it?"
Should you agree?
Or go ahead and say yes but then go your own way once you are out of sight?
