Rin Un-Dogged

Finally in possession of both the Goblin King's wand and the Sky Queen's box, you hurry back to where Rin and Rilla are still waiting. Rin has fallen asleep with his furry head in Rilla's lap and she is stroking his ears.

"Shhhh," she says as you approach. She then glances down at him. "You know, it is strange, but he is rather pleasant like this. . . not that he is unpleasant as a human, but I was starting to almost grow accustomed to petting him and seeing him wag his tail. . . I suggested a game of fetch, but he looked offended. He looks so peaceful when he is sleeping . . . but I am eager to get his back on two legs. Go ahead and use the wand."

Hoping you are doing this right, you wave the wand in Rin's general direction. A swirling swarm of laughing lights rushes forward and engulfs the snoring canine. The lights burst into fireworks, blinding you for a moment. When you blink away the glare, Rin is still lying with his head in Rilla's lap peacefully asleep, but now he is a handsome young man rather than an admittedly adorable dog. Rilla sighs contentedly.

"Ah, that is better," she says. "I would like to save the box to set a trap for my father. I am certain he will want to come to  my wedding, only to spoil it, of course, but he will be there. If I go  ahead and plan a big fancy wedding, he will show up and we can confront him once and for all. Would you like to help me plan a wedding?"

Yes, certainly, sounds like fun.

Actually, I left your father in a box a bit ago. I should probably go tie up that loose end before we start on this venture. Unfortunately, I have to let him out on behalf of a bear who needs his help.

There is another adventure I need to see to right now.
