You approach the group of fishermen and ask if any would be willing to ferry you to the Island. They exchange glances, looking concerned.
"You don't want to go there," a grizzled man who smells strongly of fish says, drawing closer to you. "The Wizard of the Island is a vindictive old soul, sold his own daughter to a dragon when she displeased him, he did! If that is how he treats his own kin, imagine what he will do to the likes of you!"
You consider this warning very well stated and decide to avoid the Wizard altogether.
