Questing for the bear

The bear is happy to hear you are willing to help and fetches a map from the back of his cave. He puts this in a backpack which he gives to you. He explains that, to find the lake of the Wizard's Island, you must take the path over the mountain and into the valley beyond. He gives you a small box, tied tightly with twine, to give the wizard as a gift in return for his help and bids you farewell instructing you not to open the box lest the contents escape.

You start off up the path which grows steadily steeper and it seems with every step the box grows heavier. You wonder what could possibly be inside the box and regret not asking. What harm would there be in looking inside?

Do you open it?

or

Do you respect the bear's wishes and keep the box intact?
