Go Get that Eel!

Determined to have your vengeance against that saucy eel, you  cut a stick from a nearby tree and sharpen the end. You wade into the water, brandishing your makeshift weapon, and scan the clear water for any sign of the massive creature.

You are so  busy  looking for the eel that you don't hear the rush of approaching water until it is too late. Rain, high in the mountains upstream, has created a flash flood. You are swept away in the rising water, tumbling about with rocks and sticks and a dizzy looking Ponderous Eel. The eel gazes at you queasily then wraps itself around your body and holds on for dear life.

You were not aware that Ponderous Eels, being distant cousins of Puffer  Fish, often inflate their bodies when frightened? Well, you're aware now! The creature inhales air  and swells until it looks as if you are wearing a giant tire around your waist. You try to push the creature off but it has a vice-like hold about  you. At least its presence keeps you above water.

The rush of water slows as the river widens, but unable to free yourself from the panicky eel, you drift along helplessly. The eel's grasp prevents you from moving much so you stare up at the blue sky. After about an hour  in this position, you notice that the water that occasionally splashes into your mouth is now salty. The eel loosens its hold slightly and you manage to right yourself to bob upright. You find yourself at the mouth of the river, caught in the rip tide being pulled out to sea.

On either side of the river, golden beaches stretch out as far as you can see. Just ahead glides a great, three masted ship.

The eel finally releases you and you are left with a new choice:

Swim for the beach

or

Try to get help from the sailors on the ship.
