What's down that dark corridor?

While the right side tunnel, the one that Basalt is swiftly disappearing into, is well lit, the left, which you are now venturing into, is dark except for the glimmer in the distance. The floor is even and with your hand set against the brick wall at your side, you feel confident in your steps and follow the light before you into a round chamber. The chamber is empty except for a well in the middle of the room which is where the light appears to be coming from. The light has a bluish tinge to it. You gaze down into the water far below and think you can see something round and luminescent just below the surface. There is a bucket attached to a crank hanging over the well.
